Jim Carey Distributing began many years ago in Abita Springs, LA. Barney Carey, Sr. opened a Jax Beer distributorship just after prohibition was repealed in 1933. He named his new business Barney Carey Company and built it on the conrnerstones of honesty, trust, and fair business practices. Sadly, Barney, Sr. died at an early age. The business was taken over by his very capable eldest son Barney Carey, Junior in 1941. Barney, Jr. ran the business with great skill, adhering to the principles upon which his father had built the business.
In 1952, Jim Carey joined his brother Barney, Jr. at the business. The brothers made a wonderful team, winning many sales competitions among distributors. Jimmy and Barney, Jr. soon found that they were outgrowing the warehouse in Abita Springs. So, in 1972, they moved the business to its present location in Covington, LA. They had also opened a second warehouse in Hammond, LA. Barney Jr. died at a young age in 1976, leaving Jim to run the business. He worked tirelessly to continue to grow the business, while adhering to those important principles of trust, honesty, and fairness. In 1987, Jim's only son, Chuck began working at the business. Sadly, Jim died in 2008, but not before he got to see his son carry on the great tradition of running the family business successfully and with truth, honesty, and fairness. Today, Chuck continues the great legacy set forth by his father, uncle, and grandfather of running Jim Carey Distributing.
